CHIANG MAI, A CITY FOR A HEARTY SPIRITUAL QUEST

Project brief
This project aims to create a new logo, set of icons and other design assets to create a unique identity for the chosen location (either a city, neighborhood or region). The application of branding techniques to geographical locations with the goal of creating of an identity that turns a city or neighborhood from a location into a destination where people want to live, work and visit.

Design rationale
The chosen location is Chiang Mai, where past and the present meet. The modern buildings stand side by side with the venerable ancient temples, which creates a seamless dialogue between the past and the present. The branding of Chiang Mai aims to show people that this is the place they can reconnect with themselves; this is the place where they can find a way to reunite their souls; the place where to find the inner peace. Chiang Mai is the hearty spiritual quest. The walking monks with umbrellas is a common scene in Chiang Mai; they walk around the streets to pray for people and the city.
